THE SERAVEZZA BLUES FESTIVAL IS IN THREE

The fourth edition of the international kermesse (with free admission) will take place on Friday 20,

Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July in the garden of Palazzo Mediceo

Seravezza Blues Festival evolves. It still progresses, however preserving its strong musical and territorial identity. The international music festival with free admission, now in its fourth edition, will take place on three evenings: Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 July. An unprecedented in recent history, but already significant of an event able to immediately establish itself as one of the most important events not only in Tuscany, but throughout Italy. A formula further extended to involve an ever larger and more varied audience.

The location will not change: on the stage set up in the garden of Palazzo Mediceo (in front of the main entrance of the 'Unesco), will alternate international stars and young local bands for a tribute to the blues and its various forms.

THE HISTORY

Seravezza Blues Festival represents the main event of the cultural association "Alexandre Mattei", founded in memory of the Pietrasian musician who died prematurely in 2015 and engaged in various charitable projects. In that same year, the first edition of the festival was held, held baptism by the legendary Guitar Crusher, whose concert - in the garden adjacent to the Villa Medicea - attended over 1500 people. Successful repetition in 2016, when in front of about 2000 people have performed - always on a single date - some of the most interesting names in the European blues scene as Marcos Coll, Tom Blacksmith and Jaime Dolce. 2017 was the year of the turning point for Seravezza Blues Festival: no more but two dates (with two guests of the highest level, McKinley Moore and Ana Popovic), moving the venue in the garden in front of Palazzo Mediceo, birth of the Village del Blues, with flea markets and exhibitions of musical exhibition and inauguration of the "Proposals" section with the "Road to Seravezza Blues" competition. More than 5,000 people have taken part in the event.

LE DATE

The first event, on Friday 20 July, will be dedicated to the finals of the "Road to Seravezza Blues ": the best emerging bands in the Tuscan scene will be able to perform in a prestigious context during an Opening Night in which a highly qualified national jury will take part and conducted by an exceptional personality of the Italian music scene. The second evening (Saturday 21 July) will instead focus on the popular blues, on the occasion of the exact 40 years from the formation of the Blues Brothers. A tribute to the artists who made the history of this genre. The grand finale on Sunday 22nd July, with performances by performers who will embrace every stage (past, present and future) of the international blues.

THE COLLATERAL INITIATIVES

Not just live concerts . In fact, many events will be on the sidelines of the three evenings of Seravezza Blues Festival: the Medici Theater at Scuderie will host cultural and educational initiatives related to music, including master classes with international and local artists, as well as several meetings throughout the weekend. In Piazza Carducci and in the area of the Duomo there are events and promotional events related to the Festival, whose opening is confirmed (and strengthened) since the afternoon, with music-themed markets (with sector exhibitors), food and wine (producers and distributors of the territory) in addition to spaces for children (with games and entertainment).

THE VILLAGE OF BLUES

In front of the stage, for the second year in a row, the Village will find space of the Blues, where you can taste excellent zero-mile craft beers, local gastronomic products and where there will be exhibition spaces and sales of musical instruments, violin making, blues merchandising, biking and motorcycles, records and vinyls.

THE DOCU-FILM

Also on the occasion of the fourth edition of Seravezza Blues Festival, filming will be performed (by the director Stefano Leone) with interviews with artists, organizers, authorities and the public. The project, launched in 2017, aims to create a documentary film about the event and the figure of Alexandre Mattei. A vehicle for musical and cultural dissemination, as well as for the promotion of Versilia.

PATRONS AND SUPPORTS

Supported by the Fondazione Terre Medicee, with the patronage of the municipality of Seravezza and the contribution of the Banca del Credito Cooperativo of Versilia, Seravezza Blues Festival generates significant economic repercussions on the territory by providing work to the exhibitors (90% local) of the Blues Village and neighboring hotels that host artists and crew of the band.

CHARITY PROJECTS

Music for all is not a mere slogan, but a message that finds concrete confirmation in the solidarity work of the association presided over by Giuseppe Campatelli. Projects include the delivery of a defibrillator installed at the Tommasi di Pietrasanta gym, the purchase of musical instruments for the Riomagno Philharmonic and Azzano used for educational purposes and the donation of funds to the Opa di Massa hospital to buy machinery for the treatment and prevention of neonatal cardiac diseases. Also this year part of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

FUNDRAISING AND SELF-FINANCING

Seravezza Blues Festival is free admission, a feature that has been maintained since the first edition. This event lives exclusively from direct funding from public and banking institutions, sponsorship agreements with private companies, which is accompanied by self-financing activities and collection on the territory. Several initiatives are also developed, including a raffle with prizes offered by local merchant businesses and national crowdfunding.
